Quite possibly one my favourite littlest clients EVER – this handsome guy is such a doll! He has such personality and seriously hams it up for the camera <3
His gorgeous mom contacted me and told me she wanted to do something a little different. Something urban, edgy, stylish with a touch of class. Of course, I love hearing things like that 😉
Okay, so I am finally starting to blog my 2014 sessions! I know we’re already half way through the year, but I’ve been making sure that all of you, my incredible clients, are getting your galleries on time now that I finally have a couple of days to catch up on some quality blogging, I’m so excited to show you what I’ve been up to this year!
These beautiful children’s mom contacted me asking if I could capture some memorable shots of her two pre teens and then put them together in a 2014 diary for her. For the record, I LOVE personalised diaries and have one of my own – they make such wonderful christmas gifts too!
We started off with some individual shots:
I loooove shots of siblings together – there is always a bit of mischievousness and sometimes even a few “ewww” faces, but there is ALWAYS a moment where I capture pure trust and love.
These two love swimming and are quite good at it – competing regularly in local and national competitions, so a shot like this was a must have
Another quick outfit change and we did a last range of photos – some fun, some serious, some playful. My favourites are by far the serious ones – I am such a sucker for soulful eyes <3
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed looking back on this shoot
I absolutely love it when my clients go to the extra effort in choosing outfits and bringing props for their photo shoots and it definitely doesn’t hurt when the children are extra cute too! I love the blue and read co-ordinating colour theme – doesn’t it look super?
See, told you they are super cute
This is probably one of my FAVOURITE mother/daughter portraits of all time.
Of course, we had to sneak some shots of mom and dad in there – they are such incredible parents too!
I loved the balloons that mom brought with <3
With that pretty skirt, we had to do some twirls (I am not sure who enjoyed them more – the little girl or me!)
I love serious quiet moments with children – in between all the running and playing and general rambunctiousness, their 5 seconds of down time is always such a treat to capture.
The whole beautiful family together.
The boys together!

It is SUCH an honour to be asked by another photographer to photograph their family, especially when the photographer is someone as talented as this one! (Be sure to check out her page and leave her some love Charlene Louw Photography).
Charlene had something very specific in mind – she wanted lots of back lighting (sun behind the children) and she brought along a beautiful Little Red Riding Hood cape for the girls to wear.
I love how the photos of the girls turned out – they are both gorgeous girls and so good in front of the camera (I bet they have had loads of practise with their mom 😉 )
I love love LOVE their serious faces (even though their happy faces are just as sweet!). But there is something so ethereal about a child with a serious face – like we can see straight into their soul <3
Squeee, isn’t that cheeky grin so adorable?!
And a more serious side of her.
The light was perfect, her expression was perfect.
And then that look. THAT look.
Her sister carried herself just as well. Being a bit older, we went for a slightly more serious feel to her photos.
I could shoot this girl all day <3
SO much fun!
In a dream world.
And she is just perfect.

First of all – HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Over the 2013 festive season, I decided to spend the holidays “unplugged”. I spent time with family, with my husband and with my daughter. I seldom sat down in front of the computer and only used my phone for phoning (*gasp* the horror! 😉 )
With a very crazy end of year behind me (hence the lack of blogging), I’ll be spending the next few weeks attached to my laptop, editing like mad! Hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of blogging and share some amazing recent sessions with you.
To start my 2014 blogging off, I thought it was time to write my daughter another letter. Thanks for stopping by!
If you are my friend on facebook, you will see that every month, I post the most recent images of my little girl. If you follow my blog posts, you’ll know that she is fondly referred to as HRH (Her Royal Highness). So I have decided to transfer some of these monthly images to the blog, along with letters to my daughter. I know I’m letting you peek into my life more so than normal. I know that you will see my emotions transcribed to words. I’m okay with that. I WANT to share this incredible little girl with you. She is my life. She is my heart. And now she is about to touch yours.
If you were wanting to do a newborn shoot but never got around to it, around three to four months is a good time to capture some of your baby’s “littleness”!
This family wanted some pictures of their three month old baby girl while she is in this adorable stage. And boy, was she full of smiles and giggles for me, really playing up for the camera
In celebration of this beautiful girl’s birthday, her family decided it was a great time for updated formal family portraits. What a stunning family! It was so heart warming for me to watch how all the family (aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins) rallied around to help get everything ready while mom and dad sat with their princess for the formal portraits.
I’m catching up on past sessions that I never got around to blogging earlier this year. This has to be one of my favourite autumn shoots of all time; the leaves were magical, the family was stunning and the lighting was sublime.
Winter is my least favourite season. I dislike the cold. I dislike how dry our Highveld air becomes. I dislike how bare and barren the fields are, the trees, the parks. The grass dies off and sticks to your clothing.
Just over a year ago, I was contacted by a beautiful mom to be to capture her maternity photos (you can see those here). When her little man was three months old, we did another photo shoot with him and he was an absolute cutie pie! His three month session can be seen over here.
When this handsome little guy’s mom called me and asked me to photograph her son’s christening, I was delighted – THIS is why I love what I do. I get to be a part of my clients monumental events in their life, and this makes me incredibly happy.
