Welcome to Stylin’ Sunday, where I will share with you what I think will look good for your photo shoot! Remember that these are only my own opinions – of course, our tastes will differ, but this is just a rough guideline to give you an idea of what colours complement each other and what styles look great in photos. Something important to take into consideration is the feel you are wanting to achieve in your images – are we going edgy and urban? Are you more the soft and romantic type? Or perhaps you would prefer something timeless and stylish. You can browse through my Pintrest Board where every edition of Stylin’ Sunday will be posted for you to draw inspiration from. Please pay attention to your choice of wardrobe for your photo shoot as well as your accessories; your outfits are extremely important. However, the most important thing is for you to be comfortable with what you are wearing as we want your outfit choices to reflect who you are – if you feel awkward on the day of your photo shoot, this will reflect in your images.
Still unsure about what you want to wear? Drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll gladly help you find something that will be perfect for you!
I absolutely love it when my clients go to the extra effort in choosing outfits and bringing props for their photo shoots and it definitely doesn’t hurt when the children are extra cute too! I love the blue and read co-ordinating colour theme – doesn’t it look super?
See, told you they are super cute
This is probably one of my FAVOURITE mother/daughter portraits of all time.
Of course, we had to sneak some shots of mom and dad in there – they are such incredible parents too!
I loved the balloons that mom brought with <3
With that pretty skirt, we had to do some twirls (I am not sure who enjoyed them more – the little girl or me!)
I love serious quiet moments with children – in between all the running and playing and general rambunctiousness, their 5 seconds of down time is always such a treat to capture.
The whole beautiful family together.
The boys together!

It is SUCH an honour to be asked by another photographer to photograph their family, especially when the photographer is someone as talented as this one! (Be sure to check out her page and leave her some love Charlene Louw Photography).
Charlene had something very specific in mind – she wanted lots of back lighting (sun behind the children) and she brought along a beautiful Little Red Riding Hood cape for the girls to wear.
I love how the photos of the girls turned out – they are both gorgeous girls and so good in front of the camera (I bet they have had loads of practise with their mom 😉 )
I love love LOVE their serious faces (even though their happy faces are just as sweet!). But there is something so ethereal about a child with a serious face – like we can see straight into their soul <3
Squeee, isn’t that cheeky grin so adorable?!
And a more serious side of her.
The light was perfect, her expression was perfect.
And then that look. THAT look.
Her sister carried herself just as well. Being a bit older, we went for a slightly more serious feel to her photos.
I could shoot this girl all day <3
SO much fun!
In a dream world.
And she is just perfect.

When this gorgeous family asked me to capture their little boy’s Orthodox Greek christening, I was thrilled!
Entering this place of worship, I was in awe. What an incredibly peaceful and beautiful church. The sense of community, and the love and support that was tangible throughout the dedication service, was an absolute privilege to be witness to.
If you were wanting to do a newborn shoot but never got around to it, around three to four months is a good time to capture some of your baby’s “littleness”!
This family wanted some pictures of their three month old baby girl while she is in this adorable stage. And boy, was she full of smiles and giggles for me, really playing up for the camera
In celebration of this beautiful girl’s birthday, her family decided it was a great time for updated formal family portraits. What a stunning family! It was so heart warming for me to watch how all the family (aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins) rallied around to help get everything ready while mom and dad sat with their princess for the formal portraits.
I’m catching up on past sessions that I never got around to blogging earlier this year. This has to be one of my favourite autumn shoots of all time; the leaves were magical, the family was stunning and the lighting was sublime.
This has to be one of my favourite events I have photographed – ever. Everything was so well planned and thought out – from the decor, to the fun photo booth props… did I mention the decor?!
The party was held at the stunning Reading Country Club in Alberton – what a venue!
This beautiful get together was in celebration of a 40th wedding anniversary. 40 years! I didn’t get a chance to ask them what their “secret” is, but at a guess, I would honestly say that by watching them interact with each other and their grown children (as well as grandchildren), it would be that there is deep respect and admiration for each other. They are truly blessed with incredible family and friends, and it was an absolute privilege to be invited to capture their day of celebration and sharing.
When a fellow photographer friend of mine contacted me early on a Sunday morning asking if I would help out and take over her shoot this afternoon, I jumped at the chance. My poor friend was terribly ill (as photographers, we almost NEVER cancel on clients unless its really REALLY necessary). So off I went, heading out into the great unknown (actually, it was just Pretoria, but for this East Rand girl, its pretty much unknown!)
Just over a year ago, I was contacted by a beautiful mom to be to capture her maternity photos (you can see those here). When her little man was three months old, we did another photo shoot with him and he was an absolute cutie pie! His three month session can be seen over here.
When this handsome little guy’s mom called me and asked me to photograph her son’s christening, I was delighted – THIS is why I love what I do. I get to be a part of my clients monumental events in their life, and this makes me incredibly happy.
This family is drop dead gorgeous. For real. Not only are they completely comfortable in front of the camera, they are such a pleasure to work with. Their interaction with each other is natural and their love for each other is obvious for anyone who is lucky enough to spend some time with them.
Mom has exquisite style (she styled the entire family!) and their outfits were perfect for the day. We decided on one of my all time favourite locations to shoot at – Delta Park. Flowers were in bloom, the lighting was sublime and it was overall an absolutely perfect day.
