It’s that time of the week again – Thursday Blog Ring! Every week, some talented bloggers and I blog about the same topic – it is always interesting seeing how different our views are on each topic 😉
This week’s topic is a personal photo. So I will be sharing an extremely personal photo with you – baring my soul, so to speak. I’m always nervous to share photos of myself because I’m more comfortable on the other side of the camera, and I’m even more nervous to share this today because there is such controversy surrounding this topic.
Something that is very personal to me is my breastfeeding relationship with my daughter. She will be three years old in October, and we are still breastfeeding. The plan is to wean her… soon, I guess. Although I said that last year too, ha!
Any woman who has ever breastfed for any amount of time will agree that breastfeeding is tough. It’s time consuming, energy depleting and can be stressful in public if you are like me and want some sort of privacy (although I have reached the stage, after nearly three years, of being happy with a quiet corner and a blanket!). That’s not to mention worrying about your milk supply, the right diet and blocked ducts.
That being said, I wouldn’t give up the last three years for anything. Not a thing. Of course, I encounter people who stare at me in disbelief and even those who shake their head. But I also encounter a lot of people who emotionally high five me and congratulate me on a job well done.
I sure am looking forward to getting my body back at some stage (and not having to shop with “breast friendly” clothes in mind) but for now, I am enjoying the bond we share. The benefits for both of us have been, and continue to be, absolutely incredible.
I do want an updated picture of her soon, before she weans – those plans are in the making
Here is one from her second birthday last year. Is it technically sound? Not in the least. Does it show the love between myself and my daughter? Absolutely.
Let’s see what personal photo Karen from Karen Cooley Photography is blogging about this week.
